Hello, and welcome to the ~RS Clans MOHAA Spearhead (SH) column. This will detail the happenings in New Zealand SH scene, as we've seen it, hopefully updated regularly.
Although highly anticipated, the pre Xmas online play in NZ would have to be described as disappointing. However, the SH diehards have enjoyed seeing increasing numbers of players attracted since, including some MOHAA regulars.
Since the 2.11 patch was released, only two servers were available in New Zealand, GamePlanet A & B. Both these servers are limited to 16 players, which usually make for good matches but can be restrictive on some maps.
Last week we were happy to see the return of Xtras SH server, finally updated with the 2.11 patch. This server can hold 24 players, which as we found makes for some real tight Tug of War matches when its full. We think were going to have to get that teamwork going guys & girls!
One of the best nights enjoyment we have had playing SH was when a group of regulars decided to have a night out from the "action", and muck around taking screenshots. Many humorous antics followed for example suicide by barbed wire, execution via AA gun, Charles Manson style schooling, schoolyard brawls, the list goes on. Even a new one to us, we found the hangar doors on Flughafen map ideal for squishing players Certainly a nights entertainment we must repeat!!!!!
Last Tuesday night saw a great FFA match, mainly regulars from MOHAA on one of the Gamplanet servers. Although played hard, it was in a great, friendly atmosphere, to the point a certain regular allowed his 4 year old to get a taste of the action. During the next fifteen minutes that followed, this young player even managed to get two kills. We wont mention who these unfortunates were (eh Axio aka Charlotte???).
This last week also saw the appearance of a very well known ex-MOHAA NZ regular, whom seemed to enjoy himself and promised to return. You know who you are please come back, youll be gladly welcomed among the SH regulars!
On a more general comment, those of us regulars whom play both MOHAA & SH see one great difference between the games regarding player behavior. In our opinion, apart from the very occasionally exception, abuse of players is virtually non-existent in SH. For those of us getting sick and tired of some of the antics from more immature players in MOHAA, this is a refreshing change. Whether it is the threat of a more robust voting system or something else remains to be seen, but long may it continue.
